Paperecordings
The seminal label continues to build on its legacy at the cutting edge
of dance music with some very exciting projects. Keyboy’s
Viva Blue remix package planted it’s feet firmly in the Cosmic
Disco camp and had DJs from Rocky to Ashley Beedle to Josh Wink giving
it props and plays.
Next up the Supertight EP from Ben’s Bionics project busts the disco doors wide open with Laurent Garnier calling it “sweeet deep house music”. Job done!
There
are releases revved up and ready to go from big floor house-head Mat
Playford, Manchester jazzman DACO, Justin Robertson’s The Deadstock
33s and paper’s prodigal son Magik Johnson plus a best of compilation
complete with a mix by DJ History’s Bill Brewster.

Are Woodville
We Are Woodville have signed Swedish gent and technofunk terrorist Hakan
Lidbo to three EPs that cover heavy metal mash-ups and suave deep house
to techno.
Ben’s
alter ego Flash Atkins has recorded new single The Sweetshop and it’s
a concise slice of low-fi electro pop sitting in the hinterland somewhere
between Hot Chip and Calvin Harris. Gabriel Olegavich’s
alter ego Caspa Codina takes time out from producing Spektrum, Lady
Sovereign and Envy to provide vocals. The remixes of the tracks
include Håkan Lidbo’s glitchy 4/4 bass driven thumper,
Radioproof veering off in to Hoxton Pop territory and new kids Dieter & the
Gadabouts take it deep, big and bouncy. Flash Atkins also has
a crack with his Into The Valley version that takes different types
of house, sticks them through the mixer and emerges with a whole load
of disco attitude.
There will also be a video to accompany the track.
